Hire Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

  • Owner: Vintage and Style.

  • Hirer: The person, firm, or corporation hiring the equipment from the Owner.

  • Equipment: All the equipment and accessories supplied to the Hirer.

  • Terms: These Terms & Conditions of Hire.

2. General

  • All hire goods remain the property of Vintage and Style at all times.

  • Vintage and Style retains the right to alter, vary, or substitute any item without notice.

  • All goods are subject to stock availability.

  • By making a booking through confirming a quote via deposit payment or remittance of funds, the Hirer acknowledges and agrees to the Owner’s Terms and Conditions.

3. Conditions of Hire

  • All prices are exclusive of GST.

  • Delivery and Pickup are additional costs and are quoted at the time of booking.

  • Vintage and Style has a minimum hire spend of $100.00 inclusive of GST, excluding delivery costs.

  • The Hirer acknowledges responsibility for the equipment and is liable for any damage.

4. Period of Hire

  • All items are hired for a four-day period unless otherwise stated on the booking form.

  • Delivery and collection dates and times can be negotiated prior to the event.

  • If an extension is required, please notify us within 7 days. Extensions are not guaranteed, especially over the busy summer months (January - March).

  • Generally, pickups are Thursday evenings or Friday mornings, and returns are by Monday afternoons 5 PM or Tuesday morning by 10 AM.

5. Deposit and Payments

  • A quote is tentative and usually valid for 14 days from the date shown on the quote.

  • The quotation will be considered confirmed upon receipt of a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total order.

  • By paying the deposit, the client accepts and agrees to comply with all of Vintage and Style’s Terms & Conditions.

  • If a client needs to change the date of the event, we will attempt to alter the date subject to availability. If the deposit has already been received, it will be transferred to the new date.

  • Full payment is due to Vintage and Style 14 days prior to the event date.

  • Payment must be made by cash or bank deposit.

6. Delivery/Collections

  • Delivery and collection fees start from $50.00 in the Auckland area.

  • For locations outside Auckland, we charge the standard mileage rate for motor vehicles of 0.72 cents per kilometre.

  • Pickup from our home base in Greenlane is at no additional charge.

7. Viewing Range

  • Viewing is by appointment only.

  • We are happy to provide extra details, photos, and measurements via email if required or show items by video call.

8. Cancellation Policy

  • The client can cancel their order at any time, but the deposit is non-refundable.

  • Orders may be changed up until 90 days before the commencement of the hire period. The client may update or change the order numbers.

  • If the entire order is cancelled less than 90 days before the event for any reason, the deposit paid is non-refundable.

  • In the event of a natural disaster or pandemic:

    • All clients have the opportunity to rebook their event at no extra cost if the original event date cannot go ahead under certain government levels.

    • Vintage and Style will retain any monies as a credit and carry this over to the new date. This applies only in the case of a level change by the NZ Government that enforces a limit of more than 100 attendees to weddings or events.

    • The rebooking date must be agreed upon by all parties based on existing availability and where possible.

9. Bond

  • A 50% bond of the total order is required, or a minimum of $100.00.

  • This bond is refunded within 7 days once all items have been returned and checked for damages.

  • If any damages have occurred during the hire period, this will be deducted from the bond with the balance refunded.

10. Damages

  • The Hirer is responsible for the equipment from the time of delivery until collection by the Owner and shall pay for all equipment damage or loss however caused during that period.

  • The Hirer shall protect the equipment from the elements during the time of delivery, use, storage, or waiting period before pickup.

  • The Hirer agrees to be invoiced for and to pay Vintage and Style the cost to repair/restore material or equipment if that material/equipment is found in a damaged condition post the event.

11. Pricing & Availability

  • All goods are subject to stock availability.

  • Any prices quoted or stated by the Owner are subject to change without notice.

  • All our lighting is tested and tagged and adheres to all NZ safety requirements.
